i have also been breeding for a shiny eevee, so it's a pretty good way for me to send the excess eevees off without feeling like i am just getting rid of them.
other than that wonder trade helped me get a hold of most of the starter pokemon i didn't already have!

I got a shiny Dratini from wonder trade and I raised it into a Dragonair. I even had it star in a trainer PR video. (I only have my Pokémon in all of them!)
And I'm doing Masuda Method for shiny Espurr if anyone wants any of the non-shinies. (Now where did my stylus go?)
Edit 8/11/14: Now I got a shiny Pancham from wonder trade! Now when does this ever happen? Getting two shinies from wonder trade? Oh well, Shiny Pancham is more then satisfying
