I think it has been like 2 years for me. A lot of it is because I know Slix in real life so we can communicate about stuff easier and help work together to keep this place busy and running smoothly. Most of it also involves keeping an eye out for double posts, making sure that there's not two of the same topic, and making sure you're not doing those things as well. I also was on the forums for quite a while before there was an opening so it really just depends on if it's needed.
