lmao i died for a year
I'm glad to announce that I've been doing art though! I drew someone's D&D character a little while ago. She's a half dragon and has dragon-y wings.
I also made a little color-it-in holiday card. Never too late for some holiday cheer!

Ooh, I'd like to do an art exchange! Do we trade art or work on one piece of art together? (I've seen both before and they both look really cool )
Would we need to use the same image editor? I use Paint.net and it's not very powerful, but it might not end up mattering (I can make some fancy looking stuff with it, even with the limitations.)
---
Speaking of art programs:
I've been trying to learn how to use GIMP! It's exciting and weird and new, and is comparable to learning a new language.
You know how English is like "big red ball" and German is like "ball that's red and big"?
Paint.net is like "select the shape tool and pick a circle" and GIMP is like "make a circle-shaped selection and then trace the shape."
Technically the latter in both cases makes both sense, but it takes a LOT of getting used to, and learning all the new vocabulary and keyboard shortcuts is difficult.
If anyone knows anything about GIMP and would like to help me out it'd be greatly appreciated!
---
In other arty news: I've been studying Yahtzee Croshaw's art style for the past week or so. He's a guy who reviews games (and swears a lot, but he's a good game reviewer so I'm willing to put up with it.) This video in particular about Animal Crossing: New Horizons made me want to draw him, since that's when I realized he had a wife and a kid who he doesn't talk about all that much and who would be adorable to draw:
The art style is not only interesting to me, but also very easy to work with because the entire thing is made out of a set of simple shapes. Even my baby-pool level image editor Paint.Net is able to draw these shapes.
So I deconstructed which shapes went into him, like so:
And then I used that knowledge to make a baby using similar shapes:
And then I put my knowledge to use to draw this adorable little scene!

Thank you everyoneee <3
I'd love to see an art thread from you, Clara, even if it doesn't have a lot in it (this thread has been dead for a long time lol)
---
I drew Yahtzee's wife as depicted in the Zero Punctuation video above, but in glorious 1080p quality. She's actually been featured in another one of Yahtzee's videos since I drew her, and she has her own hairstyle in the new one, so I'll definitely have to draw her again sometime.
I've been debating whether or not to give Yahtzee's wife and kid board game names. If I had to pick some, I think his wife would be Canasta (a card game like Bridge but faster and more fun) and his kid would be Qwixx (a kind of cross between cards and the Yahtzee game, which is perfect in my opinion.)
Also I drew me in Yahtzee style holding a vampire bat which I named Potato. I honestly don't know where this idea came from, and I didn't know how to fit it in with the rest of the post, but I like how my hair turned out so it's all good with me lol.

Nice studies! They look pretty well-done!
So for the art exchange, we give each other reference pics of our characters (either through PMs or Discord), then we uh... draw them in our own style! We'll be making seperate drawings, so no need to worry about using the same program. When we're done, we could send each other the pics or post them to our own threads (with a ping). How does that sound?
