You can now see you owned your adoptable Pokémon first. When you adopt it from the main page, it will show yourself as the original owner, but if you ever release the Pokémon, whoever adopts it next will see that you owned it first! This data can be seen on the MyAdopts page as well as the LevelUp page. Note that this is not retroactive unless I know about the previous owner. ;)
