Poliwager Turns 10 Years Old!

I can't believe it's been 10 years already.

Ten years ago, on November 27th, 2008, Poliwager was born. It was started as a small site with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl information, but later grew into an online community with Poliwager Forums and Poliwager Adoptables. Eventually those informational sections of the site faded away, as other sites out there generally got the information more detailed and complete, but the community aspect remained! That's why Poliwager has thrived over the years: with you!

~~~ History Time! ~~~

There are some big milestones I want to bring up, and most others can be found on the Site History page on Poliwager. Please read there if you're interested in learning more about the history of the site!

November 27, 2008: Poliwager created
April 10, 2009: Poliwager Forums created
January 3, 2010: Poliwager converted to native HTML/CSS
May 29, 2010: Poliwager.net domain was purchased
June 1, 2010: Poliwager Adoptables created
November 27, 2010: Poliwager Forums moved to Forums.Poliwager.net
October 15, 2012: Poliwager Adoptables redesigned for the first time to match Poliwager.net
December 2017: Poliwager Forums and Poliwager Adoptables both were updated to use more current code and database back-end code. Poliwager Forums also gained a mobile site.

The list goes on of important changes and updates over the years, but it's been quite the ride! As a matter of fact, I went and dug up some Wayback Machine links of old archived Poliwager pages, for your viewing pleasure! Feel free to dig through these too, it's interesting to see the old styles after all these years.

~~~ New Stuff! ~~~

It would hardly be fair to celebrate 10 years without some exciting new things for you, right?

First up, the main Poliwager.net site has been redesigned to work with mobile devices! Now, if you change the size of your browser, or view Poliwager on a phone or tablet, it will readjust the style to fit the content on the screen you have! The old styles you might remember, Bellsprout Green, Luvdisc Pink, and Articuno Light Blue are back as style switchers too!

In addition, we have two new Wallpapers for you to celebrate the anniversary, one for desktop computers, and one for iPhone sized screens, both with a big "10 Years" logo across them. Use them to advertise the site's birthday!

Finally, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped the site get this far. It really means a lot to see you all coming here and hanging out, exploring Poliwager Adoptables, and creating friendships in a humble place I started 10 years ago. Thank you!

Congratulations Slix! I'm so happy for you!

I remember having a lot of fun here with you, Chaze, and so many others! The adoptables were really fun too; I remember hatching tons of eggs trying to get shinies. The special pokemon you made for events were always really creative and unique.

I hope the next 10 years are just as great!

Congratulations. It's always been a nice place here; even though it may not be a positive thing for a site for it to be fairly quiet, I'm glad it's kept its little community aspect. I was a lot more insufferable as a kid back then, so I'm glad I wandered my way back here eventually, older (and hopefully more mature), to see that not much has changed (mostly referring to the atmosphere; lots of improvements have been made and it all looks and works smoothly, more motivation to do activities around the site, etc). I guess I don't have too much to say; I'm just glad it's still around, and still feels cozy. A lot of other Pokemon sites eventually added a lot of aspects that made gameplay more complicated, so I always appreciated the more original-sticking features here.

Although it has been a short time here for me as I joined in May 2017 it has been quite the party! Hearing about how great this community could be and was from the start has kept me active since, I love getting to communicate and chat with all of you about so many different things and everyone has always been so nice and fun here along the way! My first few months here the community was definitely seemed non existent to be honest. However so many of you awesome people, poison, fantanoice, just everyone that has come to chat that help make this place look alive have really made this place feel like a home and it has been a wonderful community ever since. I can’t wait to see what happens this year and for more fun forum parties with everyone!

Wow. Happy Birthday Poliwager!

Though I haven't been active in quite a while, it's quite nice to see some familiar usernames pop up (also quite nice that all my names in the user stats haven't been wiped out completely) XD. Anyways, I would like to thank Slix for doing such a great job to this site and always adding cool, new features every time I visit.

Also if there are any players that remember me from way back, feel free to shoot me a message!

I'm a fairly new person as of recently I joined this site at the end of January this year and I actually discovered it via the other Pokemon sites like DragonFlyCave and others with the little affiliates tabs at the bottom, for example right now I see Pokemon Dungeon and Poke Print. Y'all are a nice group of people and I'm so glad I decided to make an account and join the community here! I like playing on the Adoptables and just trying to collect them all and it's nice to see the events we do every month that people are willing to participate. Let's keep the site just as active as it was today guys! We can keep this community strong and grow it together. Also I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving last week and NEWSFLASH my birthday is this Friday! (I'll be turning 20 WOOHOO!) I love you guys and I hope we can stay friends for a good long time. Thank you so much for being welcoming to the site Slix and I have to thank PokeGirl24 for being one of the few people I've managed to start a friendship with early on the Adoptables site, you guys have really made some days easier for me. <3
