As you might already know, running a website costs money for the host and the domain name each month. For the last 12 years, I have been paying for Poliwager's server costs out of my own pocket money because I care about the site and letting you all enjoy it every day! Sometimes we do giveaways here on the site, and the money for that usually comes from my own pocket as well, but I like giving back to people too!
For a long time, we have had a donation button on the bottom of Poliwager that lets you donate money through PayPal. Those that have donated over the years have been granted the "Donor" rank here on the forums. I'm very grateful for anyone who has donated over the years! It means a lot to know you all want to help support me and keep the site up and running. We've also had ads on the site, and Poliwager's Merch Store helps people advertise the site while also supporting us.
Today, we are introducing a Patreon for Poliwager! Patreon lets people donate money monthly to support others. There are a few tiers right now on our Patreon, ranging from $1 to $10 a month. All of the ranks currently give the same rewards, but that could change over time, so stay tuned on that! If you give support via Patreon, you will receive the Donor rank status on Poliwager Forums and Discord, gain access to an exclusive Discord channel on Poliwager's Discord server, and the ability to get early access to test new features for the site. Links to both the PayPal and Patreon donate buttons are at the bottom of the site. I want to make it clear that there will be no special rewards for donating that involve getting exclusive Pokémon on Poliwager Adoptables or Legendary Pokémon or anything of that nature. I want to keep the core functionality of the site fair to everyone, whether they donate money or not.
I also want to be clear and let you know that you do not need to feel pressured to donate any money to the site. Please only donate if you are willing and able! This is a new thing, so please let me know if you have any questions about Patreon and if you encounter any issues.
