Dunsparce was found fainted on the shores of Politoed Pond.
His eyes were swirls, his tiny wings limp. Who could ever hurt such a sweet, under-appreciated Pokemon? Perhaps it was an April Fools' joke gone wrong. Perhaps something more sinister lay beneath the surface.
Several sets of footprints led away through the sands, each inexplicably changing size and shape before fading away. Inside a few tracks were telltale splatters of purple goo. The culprits must be Ditto.
Ditto-- they could be anyone! Did that umbrella just blink with beady eyes? Did that rock just smile and move? Panic and paranoia flooded through the forums, turning Poliwag against Poliwag. Only after Poliwrath let out a mighty ribbit could they finally settle down. He proclaimed that he would throw the most suspicious Pokemon in the PC, where they could never hurt another mon. The group whispered amongst themselves, turning large fearful eyes from one to another. Could they find the impostors before it’s too late?

Welcome to Forum Mafia!
This is a social deduction game where the Town tries to find and vote out the Mafia (Ditto). The Town makes up the uninformed majority while the Mafia are the informed minority. The Town members have no idea who is safe. The two Ditto know each other and can talk privately over PM.
Each phase of the game is one real-life day (24 hours), starting at 12:00am Poliwager time. This rollover time may change depending on availability of players and host, but it will not change once the game has started.
During the day phase, everyone can talk in the forum and figure out a person to vote and eliminate. Votes must be submitted by 11:59pm Poliwager time that day. When a player is eliminated, their role will be revealed.
During the night phase, no one can talk in the forum. The mafia members can talk privately over PM and choose a target to kill. Town members with special roles can use their abilities. Targets must be chosen and sent privately to the Host before 11:59pm Poliwager time.
The town’s goal is to throw all the Ditto into the PC. The Dittos’ goal is to equal or outnumber the town, by getting innocents killed or sent to the PC.
Game Set-up
Pass the Blast Seed - 4 Players
Town [Poliwagers] x3
Mafia [Ditto] x1
No one has killing power except for a Blast Seed (weapon) given to a random player. That player can choose to kill a target with the seed, or give the blast seed to someone else if they are indecisive. If they do nothing for 24 hours, the seed blows up and the player holding it is killed. The players must discuss who the best target will be and why, before the timer runs out.

Other 3-4 player game setups
Big Political - 1 ditto, 1 poliwag, and 1 big political. They have 1 day to discuss and vote who to send to the PC. If the ditto is sent to the PC, town wins! If the poliwag is sent to the pc, ditto wins! And if the big political is sent to the pc, they will kill the last player that voted them. This could help either side, depending on who votes last. So be careful who you vote...
Any Last Words? - 2 dittos, 2 poliwags. They have 1 day to discuss and vote who to send to the PC. If a ditto is sent to the PC, the ditto will be forced to confirm 1 player as town. If a poliwag is sent to the pc, the poliwag will have 1 last-ditch attack to fight the dittos. That poliwag will get to attack a player of their choice. If they attack a ditto, the game continues! If they attack a town member, the dittos win.

Beginner Mafia - 7 Players
Roles:
Town [Poliwagers] x4
Town Cop [Emolga] x1
Mafia [Ditto] x2
Town members are ordinary Poliwager citizens trying to eliminate the Dittos. They have no special abilities other than standard voting.
Town Cop may choose one target to investigate each night. This player will learn if their target is Town or Ditto. Emolga can fly above the trees, watching and waiting to see the target transform.
Mafia may talk and vote to mislead the town. During the night, they may submit a Factional Kill, in which they choose a single target to attack.
Other roles may become available if we have 11 or more players. If we have 4 or fewer players, an even smaller setup than this can be possible.
(Warning: If you reveal that you are the Town Cop in the thread, you will make yourself vulnerable to future kills! And don't trust everyone who claims to have a special role. Anyone can lie...)
Game Rules
- Follow all Poliwager conduct guidelines.
- Do not discuss the game outside of the game. All discussion must be kept in this forum thread or in private messages to Ditto teammates or the Host. Do not discuss roles or ideas anywhere else. Players found to be doing this will be removed from the game.
- Players must make at least 2 posts in each day phase. If a player does not meet that post limit, they will be given a warning. If they continue to be inactive, they will be removed from the game.
- No copy/pasting or screenshotting game-related private messages. Paraphrasing is allowed.
- No editing posts or deleting posts. You cannot take back what you have written. If you make a grammar mistake or double post on accident, you can ask the Host for permission to delete/edit.
- No posting or submitting actions after lockdown. When the current phase ends, any posts/actions/votes on or after 12:00am Poliwager time will be ignored. Once lockdown is lifted, you may post.
- Do not post if you are dead or not a player.
- No roleplaying. While each player is assigned a Pokemon role, they shouldn't roleplay as that Pokemon in thread. Discussion should focus on finding inconsistencies in people's arguments. Did a player say they believe someone was innocent, only to vote for them a few hours later? Did they give no reasoning? That's suspicious behavior and should be called out.
- Votes are submitted by writing the current day and your vote in bold in your discussion post, separate from the rest of your post. You can change your vote by posting again. Example below:
