It has been quite a long time sense I played the Pokémon TCG.
Back when I played it, we didn't use energy, and had no idea for the rules.
Now grown up (somewhat) and after mastering Yu-gi-oh! TCG.( currently unbeatable)
I want to get back into Pokémon. Any people who is good or played the training card game at all.
Can you teach me how to Pokémon?
I still own some cards, a lot of old cards. I might post them in the future.
I just hope that (similar to Yu-gi-oh) that most old cards are not very underpowered.
(For nerds, in Yu-gi-oh I use a "no skill" Exodia deck and a Coded/tri-gate deck.)
Holy Ra, I'm close to 50 post.

Yay 50 post anniversary soon!! That’s awesome!

I myself have a few cards and am not sure how to play yet so I’m looking forward to the tips and things we can learn here. I know Slix does know how to play!

I also just bought the game boy version for $5.00 from a thrift store too which I am excited about.

(To think i started on the forums at the beginning of this month)
Well, it's nice to know that I'm learning with some one else.
Here is some old cards I found (I could not find my gen 1 charmander, charmeleon, charizard or my gengar evolutions :( I might find them if I look hard enough. )

HELP!! What is the card on the right. I have no idea, but says pocket monster 1996 on the back.
I also have this card, but it is more for show. This is the only card I specifically bought.

I have a bit of a collection from over the years. I've only ever played one or two real matches (As a kid I played without energies as well and we didn't know the real rules.) but from my understanding it is a bit like Magic The Gathering if you've ever played that. But sadly I had to have someone help me the entire time I played so I don't really know the rules myself. But also from my experience I've noticed that a lot of people I know use modern decks that way over powered my older cards. It might just be because I was bad but who knows.

I've played Magic but it was a long time ago. My friends and I would usually play to where it was four people playing at once in a sort of free for all. My cards sucked but I usually made it to either second person alive or last man standing because I was so quiet lol

Yeah I have some magic cards but never knew how to play.
Well also there was no one to play with.
I had a lot of forests, but had more white clerics then anything.
If I ever play though I would want to use plains / mountains.
Span healing and damaging.
Here is some old cards I found.
I am so happy I found them.(:

Is anyone up for a card tournament.
I will most likely lose though.
Maybe we could just post cards or teams and see who wins. Or something like that.
(If I could use my Yu-gi-oh cards I will win for sure)
getting close to 75 posts now. Had 49 3 days ago.

I learned how to play years ago in part from the TCG for Game Boy game, and in part because I'm a dork who loves to read how things work, so I read the booklets I had for the cards. :P

I'm not sure if there's a good resource online on how to play, but I know the Online Pokémon Trading Card Game website lets you play online and probably has a tutorial. I just found this guidebook online too: https://sm2.pokemontcg.com/assets/pdfs/ ... lebook.pdf

The basics of the game are very simple though. 60 cards in a deck. You have an "active" Pokémon, and up to 5 "bench" Pokémon. Each player's active Pokémon are the ones batting, and only those can attack. Energies are needed to attack, and you can only add one per turn on a single Pokémon, and you end your turn by attacking or "passing" onto the other player. Trainer cards do various things to effect gameplay, like allowing you to switch Pokémon to your bench without having to use a retreat Energy. Each player has 6 Prize Cards, and each time a Pokémon gets knocked out, the other player gets to draw one of their prizes. When all 6 prizes are drawn, that player wins.

There are a lot more additions since I played with the card sets from years and years ago, but those are the basics. Also a thing to note: if you ever plan to be serious about playing, it's important to know that there is a "rotation" in which current cards replace older cards so only the recent cards are usable in a match. However, I never played by those rules with my sister or my friends, since it was just for fun. :)

Do you want to POKéMON with me?

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is an eternal God, the creator of the whole earth. He does not get tired or weary; there is no limit to his wisdom.

Okay thanks for helping.
I might just stick to causal play for now.
In most trading card games I played (minus Yu-gi-oh)
I just play for a year and quit. But some reason why I stuck to Yu-gi-oh
Is you can counter anyone's strategy somehow,(and its fun to see)
Some decks are good no matter how long its been (exodia)
And well, it's still going.
Holy great Ra in the sky, 75 post.
