There is no other, like Mother (1, 2, and 3)

Talk about computers, operating systems, non-Pokemon video games, or anything technology related here.

So, me and another user, cough cough @Icefox101 cough
have been talking about this post a while back, and since the end of the world is currently happening, and I have a bad post name ready, then is no other time to make it.

This post is talking about Mother one two and three. So, just talk about things in the game. If you never played it Shame on you that's okay. If you have any questions, just feel free to ask, and you might even want to play this game.

So basic questions that will probably get asked, Best Mom, best character, favorite moment, games that are like it and talk about said games, enemies, songs, and stuff like that.

So let's begin with a hard one. Mother 2 or 3.

Note: Even though you have never heard of this game, you probably seen the characters before. The mother series is called Earthbound outside of Japan, and the most famous characters from it are Ness and Lucas (sorry Ninten)

Did you summon me? Oh wow an Earthbound thread

As an Earthbound fan, it feels nice to be able be to talk to someone who is also a fan since Starmen . net and a couple other ones are pretty much dead and whenever I try to talk about this to my friends they start talking about Undertale or the conversation doesn't get far (oof)

Story time, I remember my first time playing Earthbound, I learned about it online so I decided to play it for myself. I thought it was very fun (even though some people say it is boring) and interesting, and I was very into it. Sadly one time I checked my antivirus and it said that the computer had a whole bunch of used up space and that it needed to clean up some cache from the computer. I ended up cleaning the cache, thinking the game would run more smoothly afterwards. When I went back to play some more Earthbound, my savefile was gone! So I had to restart all over again (which was a pain in the butt). I did end up finishing the game.

Oh noes, I think I summoned the wrong thing, no matter.

When I talk about Earthbound to anyone they usually fall into these three categories.

1. Waz dat.
2. PK fire.
3. Sans.

Those are usually the responses I get after going into detail.

The same thing happened to me on Mother 3, not once, but twice. Both times are my fault. Thank goodness for the Debug room. Also the Debug room and the noclip codes are very fun. You can get stuff like the image below.

I found Earthbound after looking online and thinking, what is this, I never heard of this, but that was somewhat bad since I was and still am a Ness main in Smash. After playing it I was

"Woah, time to check out the others."

I think I played Mother 3 next, then after restart number 1, I switched to Mother 1, finished that, and tried mother 3.

After that I still main Ness, and now actually know about him. I will like to try Lucas next. But for now, it is Ness and Pichu.

I have never played Undertale, but I am more interested in this game called Oddity coming out... soon I hope? Looks a lot like Mother 3.

Nice image (that's the hecking pollyna boat ride area)
I've heard a lot about Oddity, it was even called Mother 4 for a really long time and then eventually had to get its name changed due to copyright.

I remember playing mother 3, my sister and I played it together, but I didn't know about the cheat codes or the debug room. Luckily my save file never got erased that time. I looked through youtube to check out some other people playing the game (and for 3 parts I got stuck on), I did see videos of people walking out of bounds and doing other cheats (for example, a level 99 Flint going up against mecha drago) mostly I thought that they hacked the game some how. I even saw a video of the creepy unused boss, and after reading it, I learned that you have to use a cheat code for it (and the other things as well). So, I go ahead and talk to my sister and we go back to the game after finishing it, put in the cheat code, and went to encounter an enemy. When we did, oh boy, that was a trip. I even remember my sister getting a little freaked out and asking me if it was an actual part of the game or if it was hacked in (I remember some of her words were "Is this real? This is to disturbing to be in this game, surely they couldn't of programmed this in.")

Yeah, imagine if they would actually put in a demonic, so Scarry you wet your pants, nightmare material, final boss in a Nintendo game.
Ha ha ha umm,
Image
Let's just ignore that for now.

I would like to see how the battle with the Masked Man was intended only to be. Like how would the backgrounds be used? Would it end differently?
What the heck is Kindness and how does it play into this?

And now back to the, you know, the very hard to pronounce name,
I would like to see people trying to pronounce his names.

I remember I was playing Earthbound, and my sister saw me playing it,
And when I was playing it I was on the final boss fight, let's just say 2spooky4me.

I think Mother 3 is the game I have the most cheat codes for. The only thing is that I only use two of them. And maybe infinite run. I do want to do a mother 3 no cheats run, but Pokemon Blazed Glazed looks so tempting.

You know what, Let's talk about the original Mother 1.
What is your thoughts about it?

I went through this whole post without even saying Giygas's name.
Oops I did it just then.

I feel like the original Mother gets overlooked too much. I like the game myself, but at certain points, it gets very grindy and the encounter rate can be annoying at times. There is even a patch for the game that increases the amount of xp you get and decreases the amount of enemies you encounter.

Small question... who do you like better, Teddy or Lloyd (also spelled as Loid)?

Also little thing to add, I was very over leveled compared to some other people. I spent a whole bunch of time grinding my team to around level 40-50 because I didn't know how hard Giegue would be, but it was really easy compared to Giygas in Earthbound.

There is also this Earthbound fangame called Mother Cognitive Dissonance, it's also a great game. It takes place after the first Mother and before the second Mother, plus, there are several different endings to it and a secret boss! What's unique about this game is that you get to play as alien characters and you get to go to different planets as well (which you can also get lost very easily if you don't know how to get your destination).

Hold on.
Fangame? I got to try it. Is its grafics/fights Earthbound like or Mother 3?

Now, Teddy and Lyoid. I did not use much of Lyoid's machines (probably because I had the easy ring) While I see Teddy one shoting blue Star men.So for when I played Mother, I liked Teddy more. From being a boss to having a bear like name, to you know what. I would like to face the final boss with Teddy in my team, I know there is a way to do that.

Mother 1. Pretty good. My only problems where the swamp, and missing melodies. Would you believe me that I got through the factory in one try?
I only got lost looking for items. I will forgive that for being an NES game.
Compared to other NES(S) games, it was much better then them. It also has great music. For only really having two songs. I would like to see a Lv 100 Ninten though. Cool for an RPG for being able to beat it without high levels.

Woah what the heck is Earthbound O_o I've heard that Undertale is like Earthbound, but I have never sen what it actually is like. There are three games to this series? That's cool. Please tell me about it, Does it cost money? Where can I download it? Also you two seem like great friends, are you cousins or school friends or anything like that?
