Hello everyone!

I recently picked up a few Japanese Pokémon games and I'm excited to play them! I don't know a single word in Japanese, but I know Pokémon pretty well. I want to make this a somewhat interactive playthrough! I'm typically really bad at finishing games (see: my previous games I've posted about) but I want to finish these and have your help along the way! To start, I will be playing Pokémon HeartGold.

I won't do any kind of Nuzlocke or challenge for this game. I plan on seeing how much of the game I can remember without a guide or anything, so I likely will be skipping some parts, and might get stuck! Anyway, to start, let's pick my starter and its name! I will also be utilizing the Pokéwalker, since I still have my original one, so I can try to catch some other Pokémon using that as well. Give me suggestions!

It has been so long since I have played gen 2. I don't really remember much to really help you here. I do have some experience playing Japanese games though because of Klonoa Heros. Pretty much what I do is just wander around and hope I am making Progress. Good luck to you though, if I think of any funny names I'll share them with you.

I love both chikorita and cyndaquil! But if I remember correctly chikorita is useless in the first to gyms. IF you get chikorita, I recommend to nickname it flowersuar2. If you get cyndaquil I recommend naming it volcano.

Looks like I'll be starting with Cyndaquil! I will start soon and keep you guys posted on my progress.

Yay! Cyndaquil is awesome! What did you name him/her. In game are you a boy or are you a girl? What gender is your starter? Sorry if I asked to many questions.

I suppose I should update you guys!

I named my trainer Slix, and my Cyndaquil is female, but I haven’t been nicknaming anything yet because I want to get used to the Japanese names if I can. I caught a Sentret and I’m training it a bit before tackling the first gym. I also am using my Pokéwalker so I’ve gotten a few additional Pokémon from that!
