Lights, voice assistants, and more! Who here has a "Smart Home"? How fancy is it? Do you want to get some smart accessories? What apps do you use?
I've got all Apple stuff at home, so I plan on using HomeKit and the Apple Home app to get my smart home accessories up and running eventually. Currently I only have my Apple TV, a couple AirPort Expresses hooked up to speakers to AirPlay music to, and a Raspberry Pi with a camera attached through HomeBridge. I want to get light bulbs and some light strips I think at some point to put around my house, as well as some motion or door-opening detectors to help automate things like lights. I think automation is super cool, and I want to get stuff hooked up so it will turn on my lights when I come home, for example. I like the idea of having a doorbell that connects to the TV to show me who's at the door maybe too.
The prices are coming down for a lot of this stuff in recent years, so I think by the time I want to actually do this, I'll be able to afford the stuff more easily too!

I don't have a smart home - a lot of voice-activated stuff makes me worry about privacy. I love color-changing LEDs though, and a few of my friends have them as lamps and ceiling lights, which is a very interesting idea.
I've often considered getting a Roomba and taping googly eyes to it, but those things seem like they'd get caught on the corners very often, and I don't see a lot of use for a floor vacuum when I already have one.
(What we really need is a ceiling-Roomba that cleans dust off the ceiling for you without making the entire room dusty.)

So I actually recently got some of these things on sale!
I bought the Nanoleaf Essentials Smart LED light strip here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nanoleaf-e ... Id=6473080
And the VOCOlinc Smart Plugs (I got 3) here: https://www.amazon.com/VOCOlinc-Outlet- ... B091T81H7M
I don't have a great place for the lights yet, so they are near my window in my room, but eventually I'll have it around a tv or something probably. The smart plugs are cool because I can automate them turning off whatever is plugged into them, such as a humidifier, or a lamp or something.
