First Pokemon Game

What was your first Pokemon game you played? Is it the same as the first you owned?

I actually got 3 Pokemon games at the same time as a kid from my cousin: Pokemon Blue Version, Pokemon Pinball, and Pokemon Trading Card Game. But technically it was Blue that I started first! I played all 3 of those a ton growing up since I didn't really have any other Game Boy games for a while.

I grew up with the Pokémon anime and I even had the first movie and Mewtwo returns. I loved Pokémon a lot but I had NO IDEA the games existed for so long.

I played a GBA and most games I had for it was boring but it was all I had at the time.

During a book fair I picked up a book on new gen 4 Pokémon, which at the time I thought was for the anime.

It wasn’t until a kid I knew showed me Pokémon Diamond that I realized that a game just like the anime existed. I was like “WHAT?! THAT’S A THING?!” So next Christmas I got Pokémon Diamond.

My first playthrough was me basically doing the DiCaprio pointing meme to every Pokémon I recognized from the anime and my Pokémon books.

After that I would go on the official Pokémon website and learned about all the other Pokémon games and learned Platnium was coming out soon.

I got Platnium and a used copy of Ruby and my Pokémon Journey continued ever since.

I grew up on the GBASP, and my first introduction to a Pokémon game was Pokémon Crystal, which is to this day still my favorite Pokémon game.

I also owned Pokémon Gold, but it wouldn't save, so I didn't really ever play it as much considering I had Crystal anyway.

Fast forward a bit and the next game I own/play is Leaf Green.

What a time that was... as I collected more Gen 3 cartridges, I eventually came across Pokémon Platinum as a Christmas gift the year I upgraded to a NDSL.

That one game in particular is what sparked my further obsession into the series... collecting at least one game of each of the Generations there after.

Although these modern titles aren't really my cup of tea ("-ࡇ-)
